Tribunal Affirms Abba Moro's Victory as Onjeh Considering Appeal
By Oche Alechenu __
According to the Chairman of the Tribunal, Ory Zik-Ikeorha, the petitioner, Comrade Daniel Onjeh failed to call credible and reliable evidence to get the judgment.
“Evidence adduced is weak, porous and lacking in substance hence can not sustain the petition, reliefs sought were therefore, refused”.
The said petition was therefore dismissed in its entirety in late hours of Sunday.
Subsequently, the two other members of the panel, Usman Mohammed and Saliu Zubayr, agreed and termed with the judgment that was read by Chairman.
Onjeh and his legal team called 17 witnesses while the three respondents – Moro, PDP, INEC – after review of their case by their counsel didn’t call any witnesses. The petitioner (Onjeh) testified as Prosecution witness.
Here is the grounds of Onjeh’s petition:
-That Moro was not qualified to contest the election
-That Moro was not elected by majority of lawful votes
-That the election was invalid by reason of noncompliance with electoral act.
-The petition was however dismissed.
