Again: Tinubu Adds N10,000 To Workers Salary After NLC, TUC Rejected N25,000 First Offer

On Monday, it is reported that President Bola Tinubu gave a prompt feedback to the rejection of his first offer of N25,000 increments of worker's allowance by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC).
The proposed allowance has been said to have increased from the previous N25,000 to N35,000 with purpose of easing the financial condition orchestrated by the removal of fuel subsidy during his assumption of office.
The reports was given by Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation on Sunday night immediately the Federal Government held a negotiation meeting with the unions which failed again.
The proposed allowance, which will be paid within a a period of six months as the the President, Bola Tinubu and his cabinet members looks forward to find a peaceful environment with the unions to prevent the strike action plan schedule to hold on Tuesday 3rd, October 2023.
Subsequently, the President Tinubu's administration has earlier promised to resolve the demands of the labour unions while urging workers to remain at their duties respectively.
The several efforts made by the current administration, some are the fast-tracking of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) bus provision to enhance public transportation in response to the removal of subsidies on the liquid gold.
Other commitments is the government promises to allocate funds to support micro and small-scale enterprises, as well as grant waivers on VAT for diesel over the next six months or more.
The President in his recent national address, he stated that, his government has planned to distribute N75,000 to 15 million households, providing N25,000 per month over a three-month period from October to December this same year.
It is founds that, the Minister of Information told the public that, the NLC and TUC have agreed to consider the offers made by the federal government and potentially suspend their planned strike to allow for further consultations.
In his statement, "a sub-committee will be constituted to work out the details of implementation of all items for consideration regarding government interventions to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal.
"NLC and TUC will consider the offers by the Federal Government with a view to suspending the planned strike to allow for further consultations on the implementation of the resolutions above," the minister, Idris stated.
