Free Wedding in Kano: State Gov Spent N800M

The Governor of Kano State has kept his campaign promises sponsoring its mass wedding scheme, wedded 1,800 couples, this comprises of 3,600 men and women which cut across the 44 Local Government areas of the State.
The ceremony which took place live on Friday at the Kano Central Mosque, was views as fulfilment of one of the Govornor, Abba Kabir Yusuf's campaign promise made to conduct the mass wedding for widows and divorcees immediately he assumes office.
Reports says that, the wedding ceremony by the Governor through the state government, worth about N800 Million in estimation. This comprises of the payment of N50,000 in dowry on behalf of each groom to their bride by the same State government.

The activities first kicked after the couples undergone several medical tests ranging from HIV, blood group, genotype, Hepatitis and other suspected diseases that may cause them future pains when together.
Additionally, the government also bought a set of house furniture, several food items to each of the couples and also gave stipend of N20,000.00 to all the brides to start a micro scale trade in their homes with the couple conditioned to repay the gifts to the state government in case of divorce.
The conjugal processes was said to have been led by the Kano State Chief Imam, Professor Sani Zahraddeen. Many religious leaders were present at the mass wedding ceremony as well as the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) presidential candidate, Alhaji, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
